Comprehensive Evaluation in Chronic Wound Treatment
Chronic wounds are not problems that concern only the surface of the skin. Diabetes, vascular diseases, circulatory disorders, infections, pressure, previous surgical procedures, and various systemic diseases may cause wounds to develop or delay healing.
Prof. Dr. Emre Özker primarily aims to identify the cause of the wound and the factors preventing healing in chronic wound treatment. The patient’s general health status, vascular structure, circulatory system, existing diseases, and the characteristics of the wound are evaluated together to prepare a personalized treatment plan.
The treatment approach focuses not only on closing the existing wound, but also on reducing the risk of infection, evaluating circulation, preventing tissue loss, and lowering the risk of wound recurrence. When necessary, a multidisciplinary follow-up process is carried out in collaboration with different medical specialties.
